Nothing, I have found, works perfectly for depression and anxiety like mindfulness. It's the holy grail. But you are right: it's really tricky. My mind forgets constantly. I have to remind myself how to be mindful over and over again. One thing that helps(for me) is having a daily grounding practice like yoga or meditation. They make it easier for me to remain present during the day.
That said, yes: Eckhart Tolle's Power of Now explains different ways to become more mindful. He makes it easier. I can't wait for you to read it. It will really help.
